Frequently Asked Questions

How can I arrange a visit?

Please email us or call us on 01788 521038 and we can arrange a convenient date. We offer visits at 10am or 2pm as we find these times affect our nursery children the least.

Can I see your latest inspection report?

Yes, you can view a copy of our latest report.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm each day. We operate all year round, except for bank holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year.

What age range do you cater for?

We cater for children from 2 years to school age.

How do you keep children safe?

We have 4 Designated Safeguarding Leads within our team, and all staff undergo enhanced DBS checks before starting and hold full Paediatric First Aid qualifications. All toys and equipment are of high quality, with regular risk assessments and fire drills carried out. The nursery is securely enclosed within the gated school grounds, with a strict entry and exit procedure through a green security gate and intercom, plus a password system for anyone unfamiliar collecting a child.

What does a typical day look like?

Children play indoors and outdoors and join in story and singing times. Most activities are child-initiated, supported by adults who enhance the child-led activity through 'planning in the moment', focusing on children's interests with teachable moments provided where appropriate.

What food and drink do you provide?

Children have independent access to a healthy morning snack and a drink of milk or water. Children can bring a packed lunch or you can pre-book a hot lunch from the school kitchen, charged at £3.42 per day (term-time only). Children attending an afternoon session are provided with a light tea.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

We can accommodate all dietary and cultural requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and nut free.

Can you support children with additional needs?

Yes, we strive to help in all areas of your child's development at their own pace, following your routine from home as closely as possible and keeping you in touch at every step.

What should my child wear or bring to nursery?

Your child needs to be dressed comfortably for the weather, as we spend lots of time outdoors - warm hats and coats in winter, and a sun hat and sun cream in warmer weather. We have our own supply of puddle suits and wellies, though you are welcome to bring your own. We also ask that children wear slippers or indoor shoes and bring a bag with a change of clothes and nappies as needed, with everything labelled.

What happens if my child is ill?

If your child is ill they must stay at home. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea, they must stay at home for 48 hours after the last symptom has occurred.

How will I know what my child has been doing?

We write on our activity board each day to tell you what we have been doing, and a member of staff will give you a brief run-down of your child's day. Every child has a learning journal sent home termly for review, and we send a fortnightly newsletter by email with the latest nursery news.

What happens if I'm late picking up?

We understand that parents are sometimes unavoidably delayed - please let us know as soon as possible. If you are regularly late, we will have to make an additional charge to cover staff costs.

How much are your fees?

Please take a look at our fees page for further information on the fees payable. If you have any queries, please contact us.

Can I request extra sessions?

We are very happy to accommodate requests for extra sessions if we have places available and are within our ratios - please speak to a member of staff for availability.

Do you accept childcare vouchers and funding?

Yes, we accept all childcare vouchers from employer schemes and Tax-Free Childcare. Most children from 2 years old are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education per week from the term following their 2nd birthday, for 38 weeks of the year, and 30 hours funding is available to most families. It is the parent's responsibility to apply for their funding code and give it to us, re-applying each term.

What curriculum do you follow?

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, ensuring children experience the awe and wonder of the world through the 3 prime areas - Communication, Personal Social and Emotional, and Physical - and the 4 specific areas - Maths, Understanding the World, Literacy, and Expressive Art and Design.

Do children need a uniform?

We do have nursery polo-shirts and jumpers available to purchase, costing £13 per item. The uniform is optional - if your child does not wear uniform, we ask that they come in clothes you don't mind getting messy.
